Co-op Basics: Great Meat Options at Stable Prices

Part of our mission as a community owned grocery store is to provide healthy, ethical products for everyone! We’ve recently added some new meat options to our Co-op Basics program, making a greater variety of natural, locally sourced meats available at lower prices. Stop by our Meat Department and find some affordable options to add to your grocery list.

Pork Neck Bones, $1.49/lb.

Pork-neck bones are an inexpensive cut of meat with great flavor. In order to get the meat as tender as possible, they’re typically prepared with slow-cook methods and served with choice vegetables or base starch. They are a perfect and affordable option for soups, stews, and broths.

Bone-In Chicken Thighs, $1.99/lb.

Our natural chicken thighs come from Free Bird and are vegetarian fed, hormone and steroid-free, humanely raised and never given antibiotics. These make a great staple and highly flavorful cut that works well for a variety of meals.

Neese’s Country Sausage, $3.99ea.

Locally-sourced, Neese’s products are always made fresh with NC-grown ingredients and no chemicals or preservatives. Ground sausage can make a great substitute for other meats and make a great meat option for hearty breakfasts, soups and chilli, and a variety of pasta dishes.
