New Meats on the Block

You may have noticed some interesting meats show up in our meat case over the past few weeks! We’re working hard to bring in a greater variety of natural, ethically-raised, locally sourced meats! Have a look at the info below and visit our Meat Department to try something new!

Co-op Basics Pork Neck Bones, $1.49/lb.

Pork-neck bones are an inexpensive cut of meat with great flavor. In order to get the meat as tender as possible, they’re typically prepared with slow-cook methods and served with choice vegetables or base starch. They are a perfect and affordable option for soups, stews, and broths.

Amaroo Hills Emu and Duck Meats

All animals are free-range and pasture raised. Low in cholesterol, high with iron, and a good source of vitamin c, emu meat has been recognized as a heart healthy substitute for beef! Duck meat is a good source of protein, iron, selenium, B vitamins, and zinc. The skin is contains about 1/3 saturated fat and 2/3 monounsaturated, making it a healthier fat option.

Locally-sourced Ground Bison

Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm’s animals are pasture-raised without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, stimulants or animal by-products. All of their meats are processed in a local USDA facility. Buffalo is a highly nutrient dense and heart-healthy food, lower in cholesterol, calories and fat and higher in protein and nutrients than beef, skinless chicken, pork or fish. They’re great for burgers!
