Jason Bowers, General Manager
Jason Bowers brings more than twenty years of experience in the grocery industry, with leadership roles at Fred Meyer and Lowe’s Foods in Chapel Hill. He is known for his strong commitment to customer service and community engagement, and has been a weekly shopper at DCM since moving to North Carolina in 2019. Contact Jason at jason@durham.coop.
Josh Collier, Operations Manager
Before joining the co-op Josh worked in the cheese industry for many years, beginning at Paxton and Whitfield in London, where he supplied cheese to the royal family! He now brings his expertise to the DCM kitchens as the Prepared Foods Manager and leads his team in preparing healthful, delicious food for the Durham community. When not working Josh enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the Triangle’s rich culinary scene, and playing soccer with his son in the backyard. Contact Josh at josh@durham.coop.
Kristin Spain, Front End Manager
Kris loves leading her team of cashiers and values how they all work together, taking pride in providing a great shopping experience for DCM customers. She especially likes taking on new tasks to help the store run smoothly. Kris appreciates that the Co-op helps you be healthy without even trying! A lover of old movies, most of her spare time is now spent watching PBS kids shows and playing in the park with her daughter (and it’s always great to catch a favorite old movie during nap time!). Anwar Simon, Point of Sale Manager
Anwar came to the Co-op after working in marketing, sales, and customer service for almost 20 years. He specifically wanted to work at a cooperative because he values what co-ops can stand for: worker’s needs being as important as Co-op customers’, in a democratic and representative environment. One of four DCM employees with Caribbean roots, Anwar is proud to contribute his perspective to the Co-op’s diverse team. Over the past few years, he’s developed a love for coffee through relationships with vendor partners and is always eager to learn more about the craft and its supply chain. Tracie Little, Wellness Coordinator
Tracie has been the wellness manager for the Co-op since it opened its doors in 2015. She is an herbalist, and an assistant teacher at Green Comfort School of Herbal Medicine. Her focus for the Wellness department is to make it a community hub for herbal supplements. She has worked at multiple natural foods stores and co-ops and has an abiding passion for alternative health care and organic foods. Contact Tracie at tracie@durham.coop.
Steph Carter, Grocery Manager
Steph moved to Durham from Brooklyn, NY and worked as a mail sorter at a United Postal Service. After that he worked at a McAlister’s Deli as a Deli Clerk, Kitchen Prep and Customer Service. Steph loves comic books, movies based on comic books, sports (Go Patriots!) and anything to do with science and space. Contact Steph at steph@durham.coop.
