Shape the Future of Durham Co-op Market
Step Up for Your Co-op! Nominations Open February 2
Are you passionate about local food, community connection, and cooperative values? Want to take a more active role in shaping the future of the Durham Co-op Market? This is your chance — our call for board nominations opens Monday, February 2 and runs through Saturday, February 28.
As a community-owned co-op, our board of directors plays a vital role in guiding our mission, supporting our staff, and ensuring that our store continues to serve Durham with integrity, transparency, and heart. We’re looking for engaged, thoughtful, and committed owners to help lead the way.
What does the board do?
Board members help shape long-term goals, oversee governance, and ensure the Co-op continues to thrive for future generations. It’s a collaborative, big-picture role — you won’t be involved in daily store operations, but you will be helping guide our shared vision and values. Learn more here.
Who can run?
Any current Co-op owner in good standing can run. No prior board experience necessary — just a desire to serve, listen, and learn. We value diverse perspectives and welcome nominations from all backgrounds.
Timeline
- Nominations Open: Monday, February 2
- Nominations Close: Saturday, February 28
- Voting will begin in March and be open for approximately three weeks (exact dates TBA)
Why serve?
Serving on the board is a powerful way to give back to your community and deepen your connection with the Co-op. You’ll gain valuable leadership experience, meet other engaged owners, and help support a store that reflects Durham’s unique spirit.
Submit a Board of Directors Nomination
Thank you for taking a moment to nominate yourself or another owner for the Durham Co-op Market Board of Directors. This form is the first step in identifying owners who may be interested in serving in a governance role that helps guide the long term health and values of our community owned store.
Submitting a nomination does not obligate the nominee to run for the board. Some owners are nominated by friends or fellow owners and may still be deciding whether service is right for them. Members of the elections committee may reach out to nominated individuals to share more information about what board service involves and to confirm their interest before the application process moves forward.
After nominations close, interested nominees will be invited to complete a board application and provide additional information.
Please complete the form below or visit the Nominations form here.
