Bull City Boomerang Bag at the Co-op

Swap out single-use, disposable options with FREE reuseable cloth bags!

We have partnered with Bull City Boomerang Bag to bring you more sustainable shopping options, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Boomerang Bags is a global initiative to reduce plastic waste by providing
reusable cloth bags that are free for the community to use, bring back, and reuse. This program is operated by local nonprofit Don’t Waste Durham. Volunteers sew bags using donated, rescued materials. Bull City Boomerang Bag supplies several local stores with handmade cloth bags for shoppers.

Bull City Boomerang Bag has generously given the Durham Co-op 400 bags, with more coming soon, to kickstart our Boomerang supply to reduce our disposable bag use! Whenever you need a bag, you can ask for a Boomerang Bag at the front registers, borrow it, then deposit it during your next visit at the bag return station outside by the carts so we can wash it and keep the cycle going! We serve about 6000 customers per week, so we know there’s room for our plan to grow. This means, sometimes cloth bags may not be available, but more will come soon!

If you would like to help so more bags are available for local Durham businesses, find more info and get involved HERE. Thank you for helping us become a better place!
