“We CAN Build It” with Habitat for Humanity

On Monday November 3, the Co-op was proud to participate in the dedication of “The House that Durham Craft Beer Built”. This Habitat home was built in partnership with local breweries who have raised funds, hammers, and hands to build a home for the Ramirez Pina Family.

The DCM was proud to cap off over two years of support for this project with a donation of coffee, snacks, and well wishes to the home-dedication ceremony.

Bull City Burger & Brewery, Bull Durham Beer Co., Durty Bull, Fullsteam, Ponysaurus, Star Point, and the Durham Co-op all collaborated on the  “We CAN Build It” campaign. The breweries created specialty six-packs and donated all of the proceeds to the project. We Can Build It raised over $50,000 to sponsor the build of this new affordable and charming family home in the “Bottom Southside” neighborhood.

Habitat’s work in this neighborhood, as in many others, is part of its efforts to sustain affordable housing in and around Downtown and other fast-changing neighborhoods.

We want to thank all the supporters of this effort, including all the customers who picked up their “We CAN Build It” six-packs at the Co-op. This project exemplifies so many things we love about businesses in Durham, especially their commitment to making Durham welcoming and affordable for all kinds of families.
